Inlet Beach, FL Family Session || Michael + Autumn

When planning a session in Florida, you never know if you’re gonna get sunny, cloudy, or stormy weather. Well this day we got all three! Autumn is a local photographer too and I was so honored when she asked me to photograph her family. We had originally planned on an in-home session, but we changed our minds the day before and decided to shoot on the beach instead. So glad we did because it turned out so beautiful and was so fun!

We first started the session in more casual outfits and I could not be more obsessed with the outfits and colors they chose. I’m always telling clients to choose the colors of their outfits based on the colors of the location we’re using and their’s matched perfectly. All neutral, earthy tones but still brought in the pop of color in the girl’s outfits. I also liked how the eldest girl was the only one sporting a bit of pattern. It gave her individuality and didn’t have to compete with any other patterns. A nice touch to the photos was adding a couple of props like Autumns hat and a flower for the youngest to play with.

After running up and down the hills for a little bit, the girls all changed into their swimsuits for some fun in the water. Another great idea for a prop is bringing along a surf board like they did. It gave them something to play and interact with during the session. By this point, the storm was moving in closer and gave off a dramatic vibe. While I do love full sun sessions, stormy beach colors and lighting is also really fun to play with.

If you’re staying near Inlet Beach and wanting adventurous, lifestyle photos of you and your family, hit me up! I would absolutely love to photograph you all having fun exploring the ocean and it would be even better if you got in the water at the end! I’ll bring my underwater camera bag with me.
