Watercolor Beach, FL 30a || Josh + Annie

It was so foggy the day we were supposed to shoot together and Josh + Annie were up for it! The fog gave such a moody and dreamy look to the photos and we are all so obsessed with how they turned out. Annie and I share similar taste, we both lean more toward moody, earth tone shades with a blend of modern and traditional styles. We meshed so well when it comes to clothing or decor for their upcoming wedding!

When I asked them how they met and started dating, they talk about how instant their connection was. They even celebrate their anniversary on the day they met! They got engaged in February which marked a new anniversary for them and they are so excited for their upcoming wedding. They decided to avoid a super urban wedding in either Chicago or Detroit which is where they are from and opt for a nature-centered wedding in 30a. Annie grew up vacationing in Watercolor, FL and she thought it would be perfect for their big day.

When Josh + Annie showed up for their session, Annie brought some outfit options. I knew the brown dress would complement the woods well and the white dress would pair so beautifully with the fog at the beach.

During our session, I asked Annie how she knew Josh was the one and she cried while responding. Later she told me “This was a really beautiful moment you captured. I cried bc I realized the feeling of protection and safety and security I felt with my family growing up is something I have found in Josh.” Seriously, how sweet is that?

They told me that Josh is often uncomfortable posing for photos so we focused on candid moments of walking, talking, and just being themselves. This was actually my first 100% unposed session and it was a breath of fresh air. We took in the scenery together, talked about their relationship, and what they are most looking forward to about getting married. It felt more like a collaboration because I didn’t feel that I had to be in control of every moment. I gave direction and stepped back to allow them the freedom to just be who they are together.

Josh told Annie at the end of the session, “that actually wasn’t painful like I thought and I hate to admit it’s kinda fun to be a model.”

If you are interested in a more unposed session definitely let me know! I would absolutely love to dive more into sessions like this.
