Bayfront Lodge and Cabin Wedding || Alex + Becca

I loved reminiscing on this amazing day! Alex + Becca created a laid back wedding to celebrate with their family and friends and enjoyed every minute of it that they could. After 10 years together, these high school sweethearts got engaged and started planning their big day ASAP! I asked Becca if she had any wedding planning advice and she said, “Start as soon as you can and do a little at a time, for me that took away a lot of my stress and made me enjoy my engagement.”

For Alex + Becca, the most important step was finding an awesome venue first. (Next to picking a great photographer. 😉) They knew they wanted it to be a backyard style wedding, but they also wanted a water view and of course for it to be affordable. The Bayfront Lodge + Cabin checked all of their boxes! With two large houses on the property with access to the bay, it was the perfect choice for this laidback wedding. After they finished getting ready, we drove to a nearby park for their first look and wedding party photos.

First of all, can we take a moment to appreciate Becca’s fashion style! When looking for a dress, she wanted something classy and elegant, but also something she’d never usually wear. It looked amazing on her! She also wore a jean jacket of her dress later in the day and I was obsessed! It was soooo cold that day that she and all her bridesmaids also wore leggings under their dresses, lol. Btw, Becca made the dress hanger with gold elastic glitter ribbon! How neat is that?!

This wedding was a DIY dream! With a whole year to plan their wedding, they made all of the wedding signs and even some of the flowers hanging from the trees. Also, would you believe me if I told you that all the flowers, besides the bouquets, are fake?! Another great tip if you’re looking to stretch your budget. Becca’s favorite color is rose gold (the color of her wedding bands), and I loved how she incorporated it into all the decor but it wasn’t overwhelming. Also, I’m a sucker for outdoor receptions with string lights.

What was the most memorable part of the day? - Kayla

“Definitely the moment walking down the aisle. I didn’t know how I was going to feel with us doing our first look, like if it’ll still be “that special moment”, but it was still very special. And then my veil popping off was just funny lol.” - Becca

So, yeah. When Becca was walking down the aisle to her future husband, her veil caught on the brick path and yanked it right out of her hair! Nothing was gonna stop this bride though. With a big laugh she just kept walking. Love her! Her maid of honor was sweet enough to put it back in for her.

I saw the crows nest in one of the houses and after their first dance I brought them up into it to watch the last bit of sunset fall into the horizon. I love creating moments for my couples to just be alone and soak up every minute of it that they can. It all goes by so quickly. I also brought some sparklers and after many, many attempts to light them (it was super cold and windy) we took a few celebratory photos.

What was it like working with me on the day of? - Kayla

“So easy going. You never got in the way. It was like you weren’t there but you were..? You captured so many little moments that we love. You helped with so much, I loved the timeline set up and everything!” - Becca

It was an absolute blast being there to capture their big day! My favorite part was hiding the bottle of Smirnoff Ice under Becca’s dress when she sat down to have Alex take her garter off. His reaction to getting Iced was priceless!
